Not so easy to read as i would it to be a little easyer. Solidarity towards others, pride, love, ambition, pride, bribery, suffering. But even the plot was so plodding and it was never really freed up. "I will be" is a confession that "I am not". People who don't live near the botanic garden featured in the story, (I live very near there) probably enjoyed all the descriptions of the garden and what it's like to work there at various levels including the executive down to the least volunteer. So far I have only read the first chapter [or what ever this author calls them] about the JFK assassination. In any case, I miss it. While at first the story might seem somewhat contrived, Marson's creative brillance brings it off seamlessly. His "Weaver" series takes a new spin on alt-history, with attempts by some people of an unspecified future trying to change the course of (mostly) Western Civilization through attempted interventions at critical historical points - Constantine, the Battle of Hastings, Columbus, etc. Every reader will enjoy the wit and subtlety in the novel's dangerous, delicate balance of eighteenth-century customs and transgressions. The loving descriptions of childrood food and recipes to boot.

What a fun read! I especially enjoyed the attempts at re-creating some of the lost pics, and how they became new memories for Mariska and crew. Super imaginative - my favorites were the ninja scene (no spoilers here!) and the constant back and forth ...
